Deploy Lync 2013

We had Lync 2010 in the cloud but now we want to go to 2013 on premise but we have some difficulties to deploy the Lync 2013 basic client. The script I launch @echo off SET THISDIR=%~dp0 :: ****Install for 32 BIT**** :: First kill Communicator process (Lync 2010) taskkill /im communicator.exe /f :: Actual Lync install REM %THISDIR%setup.exe %THISDIR%setup.exe /adminfile %THISDIR%\updates\custom.MSP :: Remove Live Meeting with the command REM MsiExec.exe /X{A98AFBC7-D5A7-46A1-8795-EABE2F55A7D6} /qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress :: Remove OCS 2007 with the command REM MsiExec.exe /X{E5BA0430-919F-46DD-B656-0796F8A5ADFF} /qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress :: Remove Lync 2010 if exist "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync\communicator.exe" %systemroot%\system32\MsiExec.exe /X{81BE0B17-563B-45D4-B198-5721E6C665CD} /qn :: Remove Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant 7.250.4303.0 x86 if exist "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Microsoft Online Services" %systemroot%\system32\MsiExec.exe /X{C89AD07D-CAA0-4BF2-A2E8-A851B71FD698} /qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress :: RemoveOutlook Plugin using the command REM MsiExec.exe /X{1DE3088D-E607-4EB0-9223-106E7B5AF2F1} /qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress Thiss doesn't work. I connect to the machine and look for Lync 2013 and I only see the Lync 2010 that is still installed. I did the opposite, uninstall 2010 and then install 2013 but didn't work either.
2. I've made a script to install Lync 2013 basic client with 2 popup screens telling the user that the program will kill outlook and internet explorer and the second is a message when it's installed. The package will run at log off so the popups aren't display. How can I manage that the user is informed?
3. I just discovered some clients are using Acronis to copy an SCCM installation to copy onto other computers. Is there anything I can check to see if a machine is real SCCM OSD install or an Acronis copy? Registry key, files, folders,...?
4. I have updates that are launched. Everything is set to not reboot the machine but there was already a machine that did a reboot at 3.15AM. The log in event viewer is The process C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe (X656REZ) has initiated the restart of computer X656REZ on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Operating System: Recovery (Planned) Reason Code: 0x80020002 Shutdown Type: restart Comment: It indicates that something from SCCM, as it's using the SYSTEM account, triggered that reboot. It appears that when updates are deployed from SCCM, the WU client will itself do a reboot as the SCCM agent won't. In group policy you can disable this by going to Choose the 'No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates installations' and set it to 'enable'. If you have seen this, apply this Also the updates are by default set to check for updates at 3AM You can also disable this with the GP 'Configure Automatic Updates' but I don't know if this will resolve my problem too? This page explains how you can have the full control over windows update: http://www.solvusoft.com/blog/should-you-turn-off-automatic-updates-in-windows-7-and-how-to-do-it/
5. I want to install the updates automatically for the user. Do I need to choose the 'set a deadline...' or can I just do it without? When I choose the deadline option all clients will come and download the updates which result in network overload. When I set a deadline in let's say 3 weeks, will it download in the background everything it needs or not? EDIT: And also, can I use WOL on a secondary site that is in another domain than primary site over WAN or are the magic packets send from the primary site only?
6. For Sharepoint 2007 there was a dashboard for SCCM but now there isn't anymore so I'm looking for tips to include reports or other numbers to put on our sharepoint sites. Is this possible?
7. We have different domains in 1 forest. Each domain is a client of us.These clients must have the possibility to install machines themselve. For that I want to install a secondary server for clients who have more than 400 users. They need to have applications installed, do machine installations and launch MS updates. Is it so that a secondary does have a management point and a simple dp doesn't? Will all normal dp's come to the primary server then to download apps and os? Because each domain is connected over WAN. So we rely on router <-> router. Also, we have clients who have a central office but also little offices with like 6 or 7 users. Is that an excuse to install a secondary server in the central office instead of a simple dp with pxe and install Windows7 machines in the small offices?
8. The link to http://policelli.com/Files/Deploying_Lync_Server_2010_Enterprise.pdf seems to be dead. Can you up it somewhere please?
9. SQL is on a separate box with just the instance of wsus/scup and sccm 16gb for the primary server? That seems to be a lot...
10. I've had the same problem with the E6510 in the beginning. Some drivers cannot be imported into sccm. I know there are some problems with soundcards and biometric devices. For them you need to take the hardware id and search for a more appropriate driver elseware and test if it's the good one. Not all drivers from the computer brand are good. I know because I had the problem with Dell and Lenovo computers. For the ST micro driver look for R257449 (version 1.0.0.3), the dell driver works for me. (2007 SP2 R3)
11. I'm planning to migrate to 2012 but for that I need to know what the size of the disk must be. What is there to consider that is taking diskspace? Software packages Driver packages Driver folders Boot images Os images Update packages The total diskspace of all those things must be multiplied by 2 in 2007. So if I have 100gb data it will be doubled because it's chopped into .pkg files. What about 2012? Is this flexible? We have Win7 x32 and want to take x64 too so new drivers, new apps,... For a primary I would give 2cores, 8gb ram. Is this enough? And for secondaries 1core and 4gb ram. Any tips for a good speedy sql? 2 cores with 16gb ram? Infra for 5000 users
12. Ok, the fact that I installed windows update client .256 resolved almost nothing. Still digging what this could be. If anybody have a clue... EDIT: I found something. If I go to http://server.domain...rverversion.xml I got
- <SusServerVersionInfo>

- <Version>

<Major>3</Major>

<Minor>1</Minor>

<Build>7600</Build>

<QFE>226</QFE>
</Version>
<Description>Software Update Services Server</Description>
</SusServerVersionInfo> Weird because I updated the server with KB2720211 as I remember is the version 7.6.7600.256. Here it's still <QFE>226</QFE>
13. Ok I found something. The error: 2012-09-26 06:49:25:171 1136 2004 Misc WARNING: Digital Signatures on file C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\wuident.cab are not trusted: Error 0x800b0001 2012-09-26 06:49:25:171 1136 2004 Setup WARNING: SelfUpdate check failed to download package information, error = 0x800B0001 indicates that KB2720211 isn't installed on the server and therefor the updated client (.256) cannot receive the updates from WSUS if that KB isn't installed. My server is x64 but my clients are x86. As the WU client is deployed through wsus do I need to install kb2720211 x64 or x86 on the server? Direct link -> http://support.micro....com/kb/2720211
14. More info: If I want to update manually with the Windows Update it works but I need to update the update client first (to 7.6.7600.256). After that it finds all updates online. Back on the sccp sup, it still don't work. 15. I got something weird going on. SUP worked before and for several weeks it doesn't anymore. I saw that there's a new WU client available and I applied it on the remote WSUS server. (KB2720211) It didn't updated the client version on the clients, they are still in version .226 When I build my image through OSD all the updates are installing from the SUP but not afterwards when the machine is in use also on older machines in production. Anybody got a clue?
16. For the primary I also plan to create a separated server or use an existing file server to store all the source files (office, adobe,...). On 2007 our source files are on the primary server so nothing is offloaded from the dp yet. We will paste all to the new location when 2012 is installed and will do a side by side migration. As for the contect library, it seems that the file lib will be the biggest but I don't know if it will copy everything from the DP source location so I will have a 1:1 copy???
17. As many here are asking deployments for software and OS the diskspace on servers are almost insuffisant. How do you remedy to that? Our primary site has 300gb of data and there is 20gb left. For example 1 OS (W7 ENT) is taking 3gb and 3gb chopped in D:\SMSPKG (.pkg & .dlt) so everything is doubled. For our migration to 2012 how do you manage this? We do have a monitoring on this diskspace problem but in the end I need to make some room which isn't a solution.
18. It's an old topic but I'm trying to follow those things as a test. I'm missing the files from Postsetup. Anybody got them? The author, jamitupya, cannot be contacted anymore (I tried) so if anybody know where to find those files...
19. Yes in this case it's better to reinstall the machine completely. Thanks for your help
20. Thanks Peter but it didn't work out. The KB947821 fixed some 439 error on 457 but I received the same error when launching SP1. Even after a "sfc /scannow" Error: ERROR_SXS_INVALID_IDENTITY_ATTRIBUTE_VALUE(0x8007370a)
21. We will migrate to 2012 but I just want to know if there will be a sharepoint 2010 dashboard for it. Also, will there be a self portal for software deployment on demand and approval by a manager?
22. I want to know too and also if there will be a sharepoint dashboard for monitoring the infrastructure
23. I've got some weird things going on. An errorcode I never saw. Error code 14090 which is a registry error. All this when deploying servicepack 1 of Windows 7 x86. The command I use is: windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe /quiet /nodialog /norestart It works fine with all other machines but not this one. Does somebody received this error too?
