  1. I am having an issue with our client push. When I push the client to our machine it installs fine but it gets a incompatiable version and will not automatically assign the site code. I can manually set the site code as a local admin and it works fine. I am thinking this may be a problem with the way I have the boundaries set up in SCCM. My question is, if I change the boundaries or boundary groups in SCCM will I need to extend AD again? Or does the changes automaitcally get replicated to AD? Thanks!
  2. Hi there, Just getting into SCCM 2012 and I have a question about what might be the best way to setup my boundaries. I would like to use our AD sites as it seems to be the least administrative heavy option, however because of our configuration I'm not sure it is possible. The way our AD sites are configured is this - we have all of our major offices with domain controllers created as a site in AD with all of their subnets defined, however we have branch offices that do not have domain controllers in them as they have too few clients located there. Those subnets are defined in the main office AD site instead of having their own site - which from what I have read is the MS best practice. My question is, is there a way to utilize these AD sites as boundaries and somehow override those specific subnets that are for branch offices, or do I have to scrap the AD site plan and do all of these boundaries as ip subnets and manually add the approriate ones to boundary groups? Thanks!
  3. I have always have an issue with clients (servers and desktops) getting stuck at downloading updates and never progressing even after days. I have read numerous posts here and on technet about this issue and I am still not able to fix it. I want to think that because its so widespread that its something with boundaries but I'm not sure. I have 6 boundaries for 6 different physical locations and they were all added from ad sites not subnets. I have 3 boundary groups which contain the majority of the boundaries. (some offices have closed but the ad sites still exist for now). Which logs would help me determine if its a boundary or an update / update group issue?
  4. Hi, we recently installed a Branch DP for a remote Site and today we got response from the IT Guy over there that OS Deployment was very slow. When looking at the logfiles we noticed that the content wasn't copied from the Branch DP, but instead it was being copied from the Secondary Site server. Both the Branch DP as the Secondary Site server are set as Protected Site System for the boundary the client falls in. What I found so far (Google) is that the client prefers to use BITS and therefore connects to the Secondary Site server instead of the Branch DP (which uses plain SMB). What is the best way to deal with this? Thanks in advance. Kind Regards, Mario
  5. I'm in the process of configuring boundary groups for site assignment, but I want to ensure that each boundary in my boundary group is not a member of another boundary group with a different site assignment. I currently have a SCCM 2007 source hierarchy in our environment, which have a separate boundary for each Active Directory site within our local forest. My question is when I create my boundaries and boundary groups in SCCM 2012 SP1, how to I prevent overlapping my boundaries in my SCCM 2007 enviroment. I read the technet documentation that overlapping boundaries are not supported for site assignment. However, I read overlapping boundaries are supported for content location. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427326.aspx#BKMK_CreateBoundary Thanks in advance Paul
  6. I currently have SCCM 2007 and SCCM 2012 SP1 in my testing environment. When discovering Active Directory sites, subnets, users, and computers in SCCM 2012 SP1, can that affect your anything in my SCCM 2007 hierarchcy? Thanks, P
  7. Hi All, I have a question about how to best implement boundaries for the purposes of Content Locaation and Site Assignment. We have 4 sites, say A,B,C & D. Should I create 4 separate boundaries for A,B,C & D and then put them into one Boundary Group for Site Assignment? Then create boundary groups using IP Address Ranges (Auto-discovered) for Content Location? We only have the one primary site so I'm just confused about these boundary groups and am trying to prevent any overlaps. If I were to use the IP Addresses strictly, then I would end up with boundary groups with overlapping boundaries (using same IP address ranges) <- hope that makes sense. I've read up on a few blogs including http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2012/08/02/secondary-sites-and-boundary-groups/ and http://blogs.technet.com/b/elie/archive/2012/05/14/system-center-2012-configuration-manager-part3-boundaries-and-boundary-groups.aspx but I still don't quite understand. Thanks Guys! Jon
