I know that if you use to deploy through SCCM default instal.wim (from Windows Vista or Windows 7 instalation media) it will arrive on a D:\ drive, becuase all we know. But when I start testing with a local PC and appling image using ImageX /apply option to a partition with C:\ letter, write boot inf. (using bcdboot) it all goes good. The OS is boot to OOBE, ask lang., user name, time zone, etc. and start as after normal (through Setup.exe method) installation. And now I want to know, if it dangerously to apply image to a local PC without Setup.exe?

I need help imaging Windows 7 (64) Enterprise. I have been trying to use both the BrianJackson WinPE3.1 with GimageX on a usb stick and also a build using just ImageX. I can capture the image with both ImageX and Gimagex but I have been unable to apply the image. GImageX will look at the captured image and after a while will just close. If I try to apply it using Imagex then after a bit I see a message pop on the screen that says my PC has encountered a problem and then reboots. Hi all, I'm engineering an MDT2012 Task Sequence to migrate users from XP to 7. First I use Hard link migration, then I reboot to capture a .WIM backup using ZTIBackup data in WinPE, followd by the Windows installation. In Win7 to Win7, I seem to never have any issue, deployments complete without any problems. However in Xp to 7, using PC's with actual user data, I am experiencing a very high, nearly 85% failure on the ImageX step. I get errors in ZTIBackup.log and in BDD.log that the system cannot find the file specified. Fearing disk errors, I've added a Disk Cleanup pass

Hi guys I am all new to using ImageX to capture images of Windows 7 and could use a good advice. I have made myself a customized Windows PE image that I have added an additional folder called “Tools” to. In this folder I have added some command line tools that might be handy to have when I boot on my Windows PE image. It would be nice if this path was included to the path environment at boot time so I don't need to change directory to use these command line tools. How can I easily add an extra path environment to my Windows PE image?
