  4. I have moveed this post from SMS, SCCM 2007 to Deploy software, applications and drivers /Tobie
  5. Will you deploy SP2 with WSUS or as an application via SCCM? /Tobie
  6. select that the program can be installed on any platform and erase you values regarding the file size to see if there is any diffrence. Error 1812 is: The specified image file did not contain a resource section. it seems that you have the wrong path to the installation file or the installation file is damaged. error code 0x00000005 is: Access denied but i cant see that in u'r logfile. /Tobie

ensure your switch have PortFast enabled. otherwise, make sure Option 60 is set on the DHCP scope or server. is this computer connected to the network via a hub? do u have 2 NIC's on your server? lets say that u have that, the first NIC have a static ip, the other recievs ip address via DHCP, maybe its the wrong NIC that respons on your request. good luck and happy troubleshooting /Tobie
  9. why post it like that? please share as everybode else ; ) /tobie
  10. This is what you're looking for Just fallow my instructions... Good luck! /tobie
  11. Hmm, well that is strange. Have you updated the collection you're looking in? I suspect that you not fallowed anywebs instructions properly, you might have missed something, please go through the instructions again to verify that everything is correct cuz it should work with anywebs instruktions. Or else, i still suspect connection problems. Are you using any firewall on the client side? If we should be able to help you, we need some more information about your environment. /Tobias

  14. Yes please! To troubleshoot Client Push Installation problems during Advanced Client installation, review the Ccm.log file on the SMS site server, which is located in the SMS\Logs folder. On the client, review the Ccmsetup.log and Client.msi.log file, which is located in %Windir%\System32\Ccmsetup. Verify that the client is assigned to the site. By default, the wizard only pushes to clients assigned to the site. Verify that you have created the appropriate accounts and they have access to all chosen client computers. Client Push Installation requires that you grant administrator rights and permissions to either the SMS Service Account (if the site is running in standard security mode) or Client Push Installation Accounts that you create in the Client Push Installation Properties dialog box in the SMS Administrator console. Also, to enable Client Push Installation for client computers running Windows XP SP 2, enable File and Print Sharing in the Windows Firewall (formerly known as Internet Connection Firewall, or ICF) configuration on the Windows XP client. /Tobias
  15. Please attach att logfiles that are created during the installation. /Tobias
  16. I do not have any experience of this but you shold be able to continue your upgrade to SCCM 2007 therefore you are always able to sort things out afterwards. By that I mean that you can easely uninstall the existing SMS client on all computers with GPO, script or logonscript. And you can do the same to deploy the new SCCM client if client push/upgrade doesnt work. /Tobias
  17. If you want to fallow the side-by-side approach this will work just fine but it will take some time mate But, why not insall SCCM on the new box directly, upgrade SMS client on all computers to the new SCCM client with a script, GPO or logonscript, assign your computers to you new site. Useful scripts can be found at www.myitforum.com. /Tobias

    Rebuild vista

Ahh, damn im stupid, i didnt notice that you where posting in Deploy Vista, I though you where about to install a OS manually. If you just have one computer that is damaged I recomend you to go to that PC and repair the existing OS manuelly. It's mutch faster that building a new TS for just that job. My knowledge about disk management in OSD isnt that high and I know that it's tricky some times to get it work. But i know if you just select to create one partition, your disk will be wiped during OSD and you will loose all saved away files on that disk and I'm not shure if you can create a 2:nd partition but to let it be "untouched". Let's request some help mate. Anyweb: could you be so kind and help us kinom out here. /Tobias
  19. No worries, you can install that later... /Tobias

    Rebuild vista

When you're installing a new operating system on a computer you will be asked on which HDD and partition (if you have several) you want to install your new operating system to, just dont select that partition that the user have saved away files on. Or am I misstaking your question? You want to reinstall the a compute with 2 partitions and to be shure that your files on the second driver dont be erased during this operation. /Tobias
  21. You should be able to install SCCM on a w2k3 box, that is no problem at all. And you should also be albe to fallow anywebs instructions almost all the time, some small changes when it comes to pre-req. It seems that you have learned alot that's good, anywebs instructions are really helpful when you are learning system management. You have some manuall job to do... ConfigMgr 2007 Prerequistes: • Install MMC 3.0 if SP2 isnt installed. • Install MS06-030 • Install IE 7.0 (Not required) and other critical updates • Windows Server 2003-based schannel hotfix o Configuration Manager out of band service point requires Windows Server 2003-based schannel hotfix. The schannel hotfix is available for download at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942841/en-us. • Windows Remote Management (WinRM) v1.1 o WinRM v1.1 is required to run the out of band console and must be installed before primary site or Configuration Manager console installations or upgrades. WinRM 1.1 is available for download at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/KB936059. • MMC updates for Configuration Manager (Software Updates)? If you are planning to run WSUS on the same server I recomend you to install WSUS 3.0 before installing your site, that's what I've done if I should setup SCCM on a w2k3 box. If you get any problem dont hesitate to request help here on windows-noob. /Tobias
  22. If you buy your computers directly from the manufacturer or rentthem, so can they easily pick out the MAC address through its asset register cuz I can almost garantee you that they have one. Send an email to their support and request a list, it never hurts to ask:) /Tobias
  23. the same concept that I've used here but in a easier way
  24. As I always say: Google is your friend! I found this website when i searched for ConfigMgr material, don't remember exactly what but I do know that Marcus did the right thing to check it out and I'm glad he did cuz he can be really helpful to many users with his knowledge! He have already been helpful by writing many great posts!
  25. Hello, I do not know even if it's possible to extend the database so you should maybe look for another solution. I will still lay my vote on another solution and do what anyweb say's cuz to it's very easy to do. 1. Make shure that you have enabled hardware invetory and that all computers has reported information to your site. 2. Create a web report with three columns, the first one will show computer name, the other one will show GUID and the third MAC address. If you not know how to do that i recomend you to reqeust a report in this section on the forum. 3. Import your webreport to Excel and format it to the standard that must be used to import computers from file. 4. Done If you already have hardware inventory enabled and fallowed anywebs instructions you should be able to do this under 60 minutes. Good luck! /Tobie
