  1. Hey all, Since upgrading to CM 2002, I have done the following: Upgrade ADK to 2004, rebuild boot images. Now, when I PXE boot, it loads the WIM, loads up the WinPE environment background - then poof, it restarts (I never get prompted with the password entry to start my OSD). I cannot press F8 to have the command prompt appear (I still have that enabled), therefore I cannot get to any log files to diagnose. I am attempting to deploy Windows 10 1903. Any suggestions?
  2. Hi Everyone,

I'm a new Level 2 Technician as i was previously Level 1 technician and my main role was helping users troubleshoot issues on their Computer and recently had a few colleagues from Level 3 started helping me get into SCCM environment were i flourishing from their Wisdom, so found your site and started to visit this site to learn a few things and decided to register.

Thank you for visiting my page

  3. May I ask for your help please? Capture image was successfully imaged using DISM (.wim file) and deployed it successfully however the restore partition is missing on the deployed PC. Can I ask for your recommendations please. For reference please see details: Windows server 2012 dell OS (captured image) Windows 10 x64 PC dell micro 7050
  4. Question, Is there a way to password protect a OS Task Sequence? Currently, the only time it is password protected is when initiated through PXE Boot. What I’d like to be able to do is have my TS deployed and in Software Center, if you try to run it, it’ll ask for a password before starting the sequence. thanks.
  5. Currently working on a Windows 10 project , I want to get your input on how you distribute your image to the different departments: same image for all users , based on application security groups, or different task sequences for each department. Please share how you proceed and what do you recommend.
  6. I have a Microsoft Surface Book and a Surface. Both of course have SSD drives. I also have a HP Laptop that has a SSD drive in it and both laptops and desktops that have mechanical drives in them. I am imaging them with SCCM 2012. When I install the image everything works OK with the exception of the Surface Book and the Surface. On those everything is fine but the System Protection (system restore) is set to off where on all the other ones I image as described above have it turned on. I have an answer file that has it set to be on. Any ideas as to why it is off on the MS surfaces?
  7. Having an issue with one of our DP's. It will pxe boot and get to the loading files screen, the progress bar hangs loading the boot.wim. Will sit there for hours and never get to the next step.. I have this same boot.wim on 3 other DP's and no issues with it. Any ideas? Things I have done: Removed the image removed pxe rebooted numerous times enabled pxe distribute the boot.wim back to the DP. Nothing works. 2012 R2 SP1 CU3
  8. Hello, This is my first post on this site and I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm using SCCM 2012 R2 and I was able to capture a Windows 7 Enterprise image from a reference PC for testing. I then deployed that image as a task sequence to another PC. My question is, why both PCs now have the same product ID under Windows Activation? Every other PC on my institution has a different license/product ID for each system. Do I have to use the build and capture guide instead? Thanks in advance.
  9. The OS, Driver package and all settings install fine, then I see the 4 applications installing during the task sequence and then the system restarts. I logon to find none of these applications are installed. No AppDiscovery.log or AppEnfoce.log. What other logs would help? The EP Client downloads and begins to install but just hangs forever until I end task with task manager. Each of the 4 apps are installed with their own switches, for example: msiexec /i "SketchUpPro-en-x64.msi" /q -Set to “Allow this application to be installed from the install application task sequence action without being deployed” -No Conditions -Deployed to the DP -EP Client install is a folder with the install and definitions, as instructed by the first website below. thank you! 10. I have a question for you guys. Have any of you guys used sccm to image the Dell 7440 Ultrabooks with 16gb of ram in them? We have two models here, an 8gb model and a 16gb model. The 8gb ones image perfectly fine, the 16's fail out in great fashion. The 16's even install windows minus components... I'm just wondering if anyone has run into this. I tried to find logs, but there aren't any. When the image fails it fails with no log of anything happening.
  11. I used offline image servicing to update one of our Windows 7 images for O/S deployment. Unfortunately I had it install an update that broke the image and I had to restore it from the backup image the Schedule Updates wizard creates. The issue is that now the update status still shows all the updates it installed and I can't try them again with the wizard. Is there a way to clear that status in order to try the updates again? Thanks in advance!
  12. I need help imaging Windows 7 (64) Enterprise. I have been trying to use both the BrianJackson WinPE3.1 with GimageX on a usb stick and also a build using just ImageX. I can capture the image with both ImageX and Gimagex but I have been unable to apply the image. GImageX will look at the captured image and after a while will just close. If I try to apply it using Imagex then after a bit I see a message pop on the screen that says my PC has encountered a problem and then reboots. I have been unable to read the entire message before it reboots but it does not apply the image. I have tried using diskpart with no system partition created as one person told me that they do not use or create that and it works. The Microsoft pages all tell me that I have to create the Windows system partition but even doing that does not work. The times that I have managed to get a different image onto the computer the system will not boot and when trying to run BCDEdit and BCDBoot tell me there is no configuration store and so boot files never get copied to that partition. We do not have a Microsoft network so we are not using Active Directory or SCCM so deployment is not an option. The hardware that I am capturing the image from is identical to the hardware that I am applying it to and those are Intel DQ67 motherboards with 500gb hard drives and 8gb ram. Can someone help me find what I am missing in this process? It does not seem that hard and should work but definitely has not worked yet. Thank you.
  13. Hello all. I am new at using WDS, so please bear that in mind. I have a Dell Laptop, Windows 7 x64 on it. I have WDS set up on a Server 2003. I have successfully imaged XP and Vista machines, and pushed the images onto other PCs. Two questions: 1: I am trying to capture an image from the Dell. When I PXE boot it (is that the correct term?), I see Vista as an option to select, but don't see Microsoft Windows Setup (x64). I do have that as an option in my WDS boot images. So, why is this happening? I created an image using Vista, it ran with no errors. I haven't pushed it out to another laptop, yet. 2: When I PXE booted, I wanted to save the image to my server. Couldn't do it, the local machine could not see the server, I had to save the image onto the Dell's hard drive. Ideas? Questions? I know that I can only run Sysprep three times, so I haven't done much experimentation. Thanks for your help, Scott
  14. I have been using the CM12 guides to give myself a crash course to Config Manager 2012. All seems well except for the final step where installing updates should happen. The client just hangs there for 20 to 30 minutes, and eventually closes the imaging window and presents the finished machine at the windows login screen. I know Configuration Manager is working with updates because I can login, run a Software Updates Deployment Evaluation cycle, and I get the popup for configuration manager to make changes to my system. Opening this notification up shows that configuration manager wants to deploy 19 updates. If I click, Install Now, the updates will install just fine. While the machine sits at the Install updates screen, I hit F8 and opened the windowsupdates.log, it did contain errors and seemed to be going to the microsoft websites to try and get the updates instead of going to our configuration manager server. I am imaging using a previously built windows 7 image that is our golden image for SCCM 2007. But I wouldn't think that would make a difference... Are there other logs that I should be looking at to help track down this issue? Thanks! WindowsUpdate.log
