Currnet Branch; To BITS or not to BITS
By DB3,
I have a single primary 1606 site, I went to configure the Site System Prerequisites on a new DP I was rolling out on Windows Server 2012 R2, I reviewed the following TechNet article https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt752493.aspx, which was last updated 2016/07/22 there is a note that clearly states " The distribution point site system role does not require Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). When BITS is configured on the distribution point computer, BITS on the distribu
Windows 1607, SCCM 1606 and Endpoint Protection Definition Status
By Anthony Mel,
So I have a few test machines with Windows 1607 running. In Windows Defender I noticed that the definitons are up to date, however in SCCM under the Active client protection with Endpoint Protection report, it's shows an old definition version. Most of the time it's from when I last rebooted the machine. All my other Windows 10 1511 clients report up to date information hourly. Anyone else seeing this?

Windows Insider Program.next()
By anyweb,
Today it has been exactly 1 year since Microsoft launched Windows 10. Microsoft released the first major update for Windows 10 in November.
And on Tuesday – they will begin to roll out the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to over 350 million devices. They’ve had 3 major releases in 1 year which is pretty incredible. Microsoft have been amazed by how passionate Windows Insiders and fans have been.
They’ve been so instrumental in helping us make a better Windows 10 and delivering what people
Windows 10 deployment incorrect computer name
By Jono,
Hello all,
We’ve recently implemented SCCM (Current Branch) within our organisation. I’ve previously used SCCM 2003, but obviously some things have changed significantly!
We’re having a similar issue to this post: https://www.windows-noob.com/forums/topic/12803-windows-10-enterprise-computer-name-problems-sccm-2012-r2-sp1/
When we deploy our Windows 10 image (1511 Education), we prompt for a computer name (stored in the OSDComputerName variable), however when the OSD TS completes, th
Windows 3rd party patching
By johnnynoir,
This is more of an opinion question than a technical one. I'm wondering what folks do for patching 3rd party products like Adobe Flash & Acrobat, Firefox, and Chrome. I know SCUP exists, but my experience with it in the past is that it's more trouble than it's worth. My impression is that it's lingering but not much supported any more. Working where I do, cheap or free is always better, so I was considering using a scripted solution possibly delivered a task or compliance setting. Does anyon
how can i take charge of updates?
By P3nnyw1se,
I've been reading your guides in here. On Service plans, and I used them on my enviroment.
But how do I take charge of updates for Windows 10 enterprise? When I deploy a Vanilla Windows 10 to a device, it starts updating straight away, all kinds of updates I haven't deployed. And it does so straight from Microsoft. I've been reading about setting the gpos 'defer updates' etc. But I don't want to withhold the devices from downloading online. I want to deny it. I want to take charge of that my
1606 upgrade fail
By Leon1983,
I have just attempted to upgrade from 1511 to 1606, after the prerequisite checks passed.
The error message I am receiving is "failed to apply update changes 0x87d20b15" however I believe the error "ALTER ASSEMBLY failed because the required method "ParseiOSVPPSyncRow" in type "Microsoft.SystemsManagementServer.SQLCLR.StateSys.VPPMessageParsing" was not found with the same signature in the updated assembly" is more specific to the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this, also can anyone
