  3. Hi, In SCCM 2012 the content is handled differently, so you shold not see that much disk space beeing consumed, if you don't use a package share the file will only be stored once. For your migration to sccm 2012 I assume you have the package source files located on a separate server so the only thing you need to be thinking about is the disk space needed for you new server, do you have the DP offloaded from the Primay site? Just make sure you have enough disk space on the disk where you install configuration manager 2012, as you will get the conentlib there as well. Regards, Jörgen
  4. Hi, The recommended setting is that the client use a simple schedule which means that the client will scan once a day for instance, then you will have a normal offset of when client scan for updates. Regards, Jörgen
  5. It is the computer account in AD which you can add as a local admin on the secondary site server, it is created automatically when you join a computer to a domain, and is used by SCCM2007/2012 for all communication between site systems. regards, Jörgen
  6. Hi, Do you have the primary site servers computer account added to the Secondary Site server as a member of the local admins group? Regards, Jörgen
  7. Of course Peter, sorry for the typo that is what you get when doing many things at the same time... Are there any errors recorded in the event log? Regards, Jörgen
  8. Hi, Are you loggin on the console locally on the SCCM server itself? If so check the event viewer for errors and verify that the SCCM Executive service is running. regards, Jörgen
  9. Hi, By child do you mean Secondary site? If so you cannot connect the console to a secondary site only primary. How do your setup look like? multiple Primary sites? Regards, Jörgen
  10. Hi, Yes they will be discovered by the AD System Discovery agent, but there is no sccm client available for UBUNTU så you will never get a client on there. For SCCM 2007 there are 3rd party products that adds support for UNIX/Linux. If you don't want them discovered, either move them to a OU where SCCM doesn't search for computer or remove permissions from the SCCM Pirmary site server so that it cannot discover the computer object. Regards, Jörgen
  11. Hi, If I understand it correctly you are using SCCM 2007, then your biggest concern when using two standalone sites will be to avoid overlapping boundaries. Overlapping boundaries is the drawback of having two different sites in SCCM 2007 for managing servers/clients. So make sure that your boundaries don't overlapp each other and you will be fine. Regards, Jörgen
  12. Hi, I always create the first deployment package manaully to make sure that all required updates are in it, then I create a ADR to deploy the rest in the future. regards, Jörgen
  13. Hi, You need to configure a boundary for that site and assign the remote DP to that boundary then the client will pull all the data except from the PXE boot image from the local DP. Regards, Jörgen
  14. Hi, Well it depends on many factors, either you could create a standalone media and send that to the site, you could deploy the OS over the WAN, depending on the speed, you could use a Windows Client at the site as a DP so you can either PXE boot over the WAN and then access all packages locally from the DP or boot from a USB stick. there are many different solutions depending on your pre-reqs like WAN Speed, e.t.c Regards, Jörgen
  15. Hi, Have you configured the DCOM permissions specified here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633148.aspx ?? You can also check adminui.log file for more information.. Regards, Jörgen
  16. Hi,If the advertisment is advertised as Mandatory you will not see it in the Run Advertised Programs in the control panel..Here is a great guide on troubleshooting SW dist. http://blogs.technet...stribution.aspx regards,Jörgen
  17. Hi, I would start by checking the following log files for details: SMSAWEBSVCSetup.log, SMSPORTALWEBSetup.log, awebsvcMSI.log and portlwebMSI.log. regards, Jörgen
  18. Hi, If you PXE boot a computer and have a mandatory/required Task Sequence assigned to that computer, there is a flag on the client that will be set that the computer PXE booted and when. If that flag is set that computer will not PXE boot again. Reason beeing that it could make the computer loop during the installation and return to WinPE on every reboot. Regards, Jörgen
  19. Hi, Yes, it is possible to manage SCCM Clients over the Internet, all information you need is availabe here in Technet Library - Internet Based Clients: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693755.aspx Regards, Jörgen
  20. Hi, There is a great post on how to do it here at Windows-noob by Niall himself, which contains some good links in the end of the post: http://www.windows-n...-in-windows-pe/ Here is a good video:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hh328534 If you want to deploy it as the guide tells you to, you will need something like this in your task sequence: Then the client is installed and stopped, so you can import the registry files needed for it to encrypt the disk. Which is removed again, quite and interesting proccess.. regards, Jörgen
  21. Hi, No it is not possible, I normally uninstall the client as the last step if the finished computer shouldn't have the agent. You could also build the image in MDT and then use it in both VDI and SCCM that is probably how I would do it. regards, Jörgen
  22. Hi, You can use a vbscript as a wrapper for instance and let the vbscript return error code 0 = successful, that is how I normally do it, not for Office 2010 though, I haven't hade any problems with it. Regards, Jörgen
  23. I agree if you are going to have a DP out there, I would definatly use it as a PXE server as well, no doubt. Regards, Jörgen
  24. Hi, I normally add applications that all users should have in the OSD Deployment Task Seqeunce and for departemental applications I often use MDT together with a custom .HTA so taht you can choose MDT roles during installation of the computer. You can also use Collection variables for assigning roles to the computers. That way you will have flexible OSD solution. Regards, Jörgen
