    SCCM 2007

Hi, Have you verified that the image is distirbuted to the DP's succesfully? Regards, Jörgen
  2. Hi, I would use a vbs wrapper script as well to handle that, there are som different approaches you could go for, either simply fail the application if a process is already running or prompt the user as was suggested above.. Here is examples of both: http://ccmexec.com/2011/08/fail-a-task-sequence-or-program-if-a-process-is-running/ http://ccmexec.com/2011/09/allow-the-user-to-postpone-installation-in-sccm/ There are many more examples out there as well on .HTA e.t.c that will do the same. regards, Jörgen
  3. Hi, If you make them available to the clients, you should be able to create a custom task sequence, run a script that either starts the backup or check that it is completed, and then use the builtin "Install Software Updates" step after that. Then the updates would install. Then you could also a make a condition so that if the backup check fails, e-mails you or whatever you would like. I could see that working.. Regards, Jörgen
  4. Hi,, As you are using Windows 2003 enterprise edition, you should be able to address more of the memory than 4 GB.. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778(v=vs.85).aspx#physical_memory_limits_windows_server_2003_r2 64GB should be the limit.. 40 GB is not a very big database so you should be fine on that hardware until you upgrade to SCCM 2012. Regards, Jörgen
  5. Hi, The error code indicates "file not found", the same package works on the other DP? are they in the same domain? Is it only this package? Regards, Jörgen
  6. Hi, You don't have to have the DP role on the Primary site server, it is not a requirement, and in your case I would not install the DP role on the Primary Site server. It is alos best practice not to have a DP role on the Primary Site server. I normally recommend a local SQL, it is best practice at least from a SCCM security perspective and you will get better Admin Console performance. Regards, Jögen
  7. Hi, Is that the command that is listed in the execmgr.log file? In worse case you could always use a simple vbscript wrapper to run the command.. regards, Jörgen
  8. Hi, Have you configurerd the Network access account? Regards, Jörgen
  9. Hi, The easiest way would be to remove the capture step from the TS and capture the image using the Capture Media instead, then you can install the software and make the changes you need.. Regards, Jörgen
  10. Hi, You can see how created an advertisement if you search the Site Status Messages under, Status Message queries, there you can find a status mesasge with information about who created the Advertisement. Regards, Jörgen
  11. Hi, I assumed you where using SCCM 2012, then the consolesetup is in the Tools folder. If you are using sccm 2007, run setup from the sccm 2007 installation media and select only to install the console. Regards, Jörgen
  12. Hi, I use the builtin condition called "Installed software" in the Task Sequence, then you minimize the risk of typos as you can import the Product code from the MSI file. If it isn't an MSI file you could use a registry condition, so no scripting should be needed. It works fine! Regards, Jörgen
  13. Hi, In SCCM there is no such feature. You can however publish a Software Update Point / Management Point and DP to manage client on the internet and in SCCM 2012 these clients will automatically download updates from Microsoft Update instead, after having scanned using the SCCM published MP/SUP. But to answer you question, No this is not possible. Regards, Jörgen
  14. Hi, Are the Shutdown.exe file present in the %tempdir%\Scripts folder when in WinPE? That is where I would start.. It sounds like you probably need to change wscript.quit(1) to wscript.quit and don't return an exit code as well to get it to work.. Regards, Jörgen
  15. Hi, are we talking about proxy settings in Internet Explorer? If so I would set it using a group policy and using a Group Policy assigned to the AD site, then you will not have to do any scripting.. regards. Jörgen
  16. Hi, Have you tried installing the Admin Console from the SCCM Primary Siter server where it is available under the Tools folder? In SCCM 2007 it hasn't been supported to install the SCCM console on for instance a secondary site server. Regards, Jörgen
  17. Hi, Check out this excellent guide on how to troubleshoot PXE related issues. http://blogs.technet.com/b/system_center_configuration_manager_operating_system_deployment_support_blog/archive/2011/10/14/troubleshooting-the-pxe-service-point-and-wds-in-configuration-manager-2007.aspx Regards, Jörgen
  18. Hi, i haven't deployed as much as 50+ but I have done is deploy around 20 with conditions on all steps to only install if the software isn't previoulsy installed. It has worked out just fine. regards, Jörgen
  19. Fantastic work Niall! Talk about commitment!! Respect!!
  20. Hi, Yes, here is an example including syntax on how to import an Certifate during OSD: http://ccmexec.com/2011/06/system-center-updates-publisher-and-osd/ Note that for Windows XP you need to download Certuilt.exe and supporting binaries from the Windows 2003 Resource Kit Tools. You can read more and find it here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934576 Regards, Jörgen
  21. Hi Have you configured the Unattend.xml file to use the variables passed from the UDI wizard? You need to change the following lines in the oobeSystem section of the unattend.xml file. Then it will work just fine. <InputLocale>%Keyboardlocale%</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>%InputLocale%</SystemLocale> <UILanguage>%UILanguage%</UILanguage> <UserLocale>%Inputlocale%</UserLocale> Regards, Jörgen
  22. Hi, Have you enabled AD system Group Discovery? Have you make sure it has run succefully? If you right-click your computername in all systems and view properties, do you see the group listed then? I would start by checking that. Regards, Jörgen
  23. Hi, What is recorded in the LocationServices.log file? there you can see which boundry the client is assigned to an which MP/DP it communicates with. regards, Jörgen
  24. Hi, I would start with the boundaries as you probably have a boundary issue, which kind of boundaries are you using? AD Site, IP Address Range? Make sure that the Boundaries are correctly configured. Regards, Jörgen
  25. Hi, I assume you are not using native mode, reinstall the clients with /resetkeyinformation will do the trick. Regards, Jörgen
