  1. Hi, There is no such feature in SCCM 2007, the only way would be to configure an advertisement to run for that machine, then it will wake up. Could be a doable workaround.. Regards, Jörgen
  2. Hi, I would start with enabling the "Enable Command support" for the boot image under properties, and then check for the SMSTS.log file under X:\ for errors. Alos verify that you get an IP address and can resolve the SCCM server name both with FQDN and servername. have you configurerd a Network Access account for the site? Regards, Jörgen
  3. Hi, Then use the IP range, the client must be a member of a Primary site as a Secondary site cannot have client assigned to it. So all your client will be assinged to the Primary site but use the dp/site based on the IP Ranges setup as boundaries. Regards, Jörgen
  4. There are two great builtin reports I normally use when troubleshooting PXE boot for instance: "MAC - Computers for a specific MAC address" "Computers with duplicate MAC addresses" Regards, Jörgen
  5. Try deleting the SMSCFG.ini file from C:\windows and reinstall the sccm client, then it will register again. Probably obsolete the old record. Regards, Jörgen
  6. Hi, If you won't extend the schema then there is no point in creating the System Management container as it will never be used. However I strongly recommend that you extend the schema as it improves functionality in SCCM especially when roaming. Regards, Jörgen
  7. Hi, Either you include them in the Properties for the client push installation so that they are installed during the client installation http://ccmexec.com/2010/12/installing-the-sccm-hotfixes-on-the-clients/ or you use a script like this to apply it afterwards. http://ccmexec.com/2011/04/installing-multiple-sccm-client-hotfixes/ Regards, Jörgen
  8. Hi, The old client record will be obsoleted, I normally use a script and the feature to handle conflicting records. It is described here: http://ccmexec.com/2011/03/merging-obsolete-records-in-configuration-manager-2007/ Regards, Jörgen
  9. I would install SCCM on a different server aswell. SCCM is a complex product so I recommend that you take the time to learn it real good, so that no unwanted installations e.t.c. take place. AD isn't used in SCCM itself everything is handled by the SMS provider and stored in the SQL database. AD is used for publishing site information to the clients but that is about it. So in that perspective you should be fine. Regads, Jörgen
  10. Hi, I would use maintenance windows just to make sure that no installations are executed on a different time.. If for instance a server is down on 3AM or communicaiton is down, the server will install them as soon as it gets in contact with the SCCM server after the deadline. A maintenance windows will prevent such behaviour. Regards;Jörgen
  11. You correct in the above assumptions Regards; Jörgen
  12. Hi, SCCM will create a duplicate record for the new computer as it has a UUID, it will not be obsolete as the UUID is different. So it will be a duplicate record where both are active. AD will not have any issues as long as the "old" hard drive is reimaged. Regards, Jörgen
  13. You cannot do an upgrade directly from SMS 2003 x86 to SCCM 2007 x64. what you can do besides the side-by-side scenario that Peter suggested is the following: Upgrade the SMS Server to SCCM Then install new sever x64 with sql x64 with same name .e.t.c Follow the hardware upgrade steps detailed here: http://kobile.wordpress.com/2010/10/10/moving-sccm-server-to-new-hardware/ Then you can move to the x64 platform and SCCM 2007, note that all path's and disk layout must be identical!! I would probably go for the side-by-side migration myself, but in some scenarios just must upgrade SMS2003 because it is to much work to install a new site and move everything. regards, jörgen
  14. When using SCCM with a separate SQL DB Server the one thing that is affected in performance is the console. The one thing you need to make sure is that the communication between the SCCM server and the SQL DB Server is high performance. From Technet: "Configuration Manager 2007 primary sites must constantly communicate with the Microsoft SQL Server hosting the site database. Typically, performance is better if the Configuration Manager 2007 site server and the site database are installed on the same server. However, if the intervening network connection is a high-availability, high-bandwidth network connection you might be able to install SQL Server on a remote server from the Configuration Manager 2007 site server. You might also consider installing a second network adapter in both the site server and the computer running SQL Server and then dedicating this second card for communications between the site server and the computer running SQL Server." http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb681007.aspx So I would start by checking the network throughput between the sccm server and the SQL DB server. Regards, Jörgen
  15. Hi, There are now connection between remote tools and remote assistance to get them to work through the sccm console, you even configure remote assistance using group policy objects and still launch the remote assistance session using the SCCM console. regards, Jörgen
  16. Hi, You can use the following command in your task sequence: “BdeHdCfg -target default -quiet” For more information: http://ccmexec.com/2011/03/create-bitlocker-partition-during-osd/
  17. Hi, You need to make sure that the AD System Group Discovery is enabled and has updated the records. You can if you right-click the Computer in All Systems and select properties, there you can see which AD groups have been discovered for that computet by the AD System Group Discovery.
  18. It sounds like you don't have the correct network drivers in WinPE. Try adding them and enable command-line support in winpe, press F8 and run ipconfig to see if you got an IP-Address. Regards, jörgen
  19. Hi, With UAC activein Windows 7 / Windows 2008 r2 you will have to elevate the installation process, I normally start a command prompt with run as a administrator and then launch all installations from there.. regards, Jörgen
  20. Hi, Have a look at this powershell script, I use it to PIN other shortcuts, haven't tried with the RAP but it should work just fine. http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/b66434f1-4b3f-4a94-8dc3-e406eb30b750 Regards, Jörgen
  21. Hi, Yes you need to extend the AD Schema for SCCM, exchange doesn't use the same extensions. To extend the AD schema for SCCM I recommend you to use ExtADSch.exe. For more information: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680608.aspx Regards, Jörgen
  22. HI, It depends on the OS what the uninstall command are, there are no buitlin feature in SCCM to uninstall software updates. You will have to pull the uninstall information from one of the computer under the uninstall registry key for the application and put that in a SCCM package/program an deploy it. Regards, Jörgen
  23. Hi, You are correct about your second attachment. However for the first attachment of the Deployment Template, the Duration you are setting controls when the deadline is configured when you use a template to deploy the updates. So if you deploy the updates at 15.11.2011 : 15:00 the deadline will be configurerd two weeks ahead, 29.11:2011 : 15:00. So all client joined after the deadline has passed will install the updates until the update deployment is removed. Regards, Jörgen
