  1. I am having an issue with our client push. When I push the client to our machine it installs fine but it gets a incompatiable version and will not automatically assign the site code. I can manually set the site code as a local admin and it works fine. I am thinking this may be a problem with the way I have the boundaries set up in SCCM. My question is, if I change the boundaries or boundary groups in SCCM will I need to extend AD again? Or does the changes automaitcally get replicated to AD? Thanks!
  2. Hello, I am trying to install SCCM 2012 R2 and am encountering an unexplained SQL error. During the Prerequisite check, I receive an error stating that SCCM requires a supported SQL Server version. We are using SQL Server 2012 SP1, Cumulative Update 6. According to the matrices I have seen, this should be compatible with running a Primary Site on SCCM 2012 R2. The contents of my ConfigMgrPrereq log file is attached. If anyone can see a reason for my issue, I would be very appreciative. Thanks! Scott ConfigMgrPrereq.txt
  3. We are currently running SCCM 2012 R2 on a Windows Server 2012 environment. We deploy Windows 8.1 - 64 bits through a task sequence. Our question is, is it possible to deploy a Wireless profile through a script/package during the OSD task sequence? I've fiddled around with a script using NETSH, and manually i'm able to import / export a profile. However, this only works in the current user context. Unfortunately you cannot use 'user context' driven packages in a task sequence. Is there another method? Thanks in advance.
  4. Wonder if someone can help me figure this out, I have an issue with updates installing inside business hours. We have SCCM 2012 and we've configured our updates to install after 6pm on Wed but we do NOT have them checked to restart or update during business hours. The deadline is Thursdays 1AM UTC which is 6pm Wed our time, the default business hours are from 5am to 10pm. We've had a few hundred machines that have installed updates at 9am Wed morning, they upgraded to IE 10 and a few other updates. I checked their logs and sure enough they went and installed and sccm called for a restart of the machines. We did have IE 9 set to auto upgrade checked but most of our machines 3500+ updated as normal after the deadline and outside business hours.
  5. Anyweb, I'm a huge fan of your SCCM tutorials / walkthrough's. I'd like to suggest two additional topics to be covered. I apologize if this isn't the location to suggest these. 1) Updating the boot image to include additional drivers - This would be helpful for newer systems that require newer NIC drivers to PXE boot when deploying an OS. 2) Best practices for adding additional driver support - Mainly Dell (and possibly other companies) driver packages for SCCM. 3) AMT provisioning - Again hardware based, and highly valuable! While working in a virtual environment is the easiest way to learn (fewer unknowns), there are people that use physical hardware to simulate real world environments. There are also people using real hardware in combination to VMs. The above topics would be very useful. As a reference, Dell has this URL: http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&docid=422607 It's useful, but the format used on windows-noob.com is totally AWESOME! Thank you for your consideration.
  6. Afternoon Everyone, I am trying to create a report in CM 2012 R2 which will report the OUs which machines are a member of. I want to limit this so that I can select a specific collection and it will report that. I have found various things online and followed quite a few, but I am in no way a SQL master Would it be possible for someone to have a gander at the attached and see what I am going wrong with - I think it is something to do with altering the Getting_the_ous query to encompass the collectionID. When I run it at the moment I can pick a collection and I can then click view report, this runs but doesnt limit it to a collection and hows the everything! Thanks John Getting the OUs SELECT DISTINCT dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Name0, dbo.v_R_System.User_Name0, MAX(dbo.v_RA_System_SystemOUName.System_OU_Name0) AS Expr1, dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Description0, dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Manufacturer0, dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Model0, dbo.v_GS_PC_BIOS.SerialNumber0 FROM dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM INNER JOIN dbo.v_R_System ON dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = dbo.v_R_System.ResourceID INNER JOIN dbo.v_RA_System_SystemOUName ON dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = dbo.v_RA_System_SystemOUName.ResourceID INNER JOIN dbo.v_GS_PC_BIOS ON dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = dbo.v_GS_PC_BIOS.ResourceID GROUP BY dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Name0, dbo.v_R_System.User_Name0, dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Description0, dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Manufacturer0, dbo.v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Model0, dbo.v_GS_PC_BIOS.SerialNumber0 Getting the collection list Select * from V_collection

  8. Hello everyone, I'm new here, my first post, so hopefully you guys have some mercy on me... Let me explain from scratch where I'm coming from and what I need help with so you may understand where I'm coming from and why I need the help. So over here we use SCCM 2012 integrated with Adaptiva. I've been given a project to figure out why software or application updates fail. My experience in IT is Tier 3 Helpdesk and Desktop Support. I have no coding experience, We work with Altiris right now and are slowly transitioning to SCCM. I was on a temp project to diagnose software failures from with Altiris, which was a lot of fun, and there were only like 1-3 logs to look at, find an error code and kinda google around or see if it mentions in the log exactly what is going on. I worked with Adobe Reader, MS Lync 2013, and Java failures. So i got a good hang of it, i'm no expert but I kinda had an idea of what I was doing. So now I was given a project to figure out SCCM errors (updates that stall, fail, etc), find out what the errors mean. Now i don't have access to the Deployment Console, I do have the config manager applet, i found a way to trigger the schedule ids remotely. In our sccm package that's in windows/ccminstall we have a fullrecovery.cmd that does a clean up removal and a reinstallation, that usually fixes the issue, however they want me to really figure out why is it failing. The main logs I was told to look at were the CTM, DTS, WUAHandler. Now what I am really asking is that, is this something that I can do since I have no idea how this was configured or set up? Would you guys be able to guide me if example, i'll give you an error for one of the failures that we see, and submit some logs and maybe you guys might be able to tell me where to go if I can even go there and take a look. I have all the documentation but it barely makes any sense to me, I'm a hardware and light software tech. I would love to figure this out, I love fixing things. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  9. Hello @all i have a problem, i will add a new created package (Firefox or MS Office 2010) to my task sequence for build and capture an Image. In the task sequence editor i go to new -> General -> install package and than i select my package, but now i can't select a Program! But in the package is a Program, must i do something after creating the package? I work for the first time with sccm and know my not so good, so i need some help and sorry for my english its not my native language as you have already noticed her Gary
  10. Hi There, I am in the middle of a OS refresh of our estate (XP to Windows 7) and many of the sites are running 20+ machines on slow links (20mb or less) and the OS refresh must be ran outside of hours We have a very tight timescale for the OS refresh so i would like to create a protected distribution point that can be taken to these slow sides and run upgrades locally rather than pulling down the wim 20+times over a slow link. Unfortunately i only have desktop PC's i5 4GB memory at the moment to use for the DP's and plan on once the OS refresh is completed at a site, remove this DP and take it to the next site. I would like to know if i can just use Windows 7 and set this as a protected branch distribution point or if i would be best to install Server 2008 and set it up as a full DP with PXE support? The important aspect is being able to move the protected DP between sites (reassigning the protected boundary each time) SCCM 2007 SP2 R3, 1 primary site server, no secondary sites and a couple of main DP's in main sites. Thanks
  11. Hi, I have a really odd problem that I’ve never seen before when deploying an OSD TS to an HP ProBook 6560b. I’m deploying Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit using Confg Manager 2012 SP1. I have the latest driver pack for this model from HP (sp61783.exe), and the correct driver pack is selected in the TS using a WMI query. The driver package is installed OK, however the wrong NIC driver is installed. The NIC is an Intel 82579V (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503), however the driver for the 82579LM (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1502) gets installed. Checking the setupapi.dev.log I can see that in the first boot session (i.e. after SCCM has copied the drivers to the driverstore and the laptop reboots to install the drivers) the hardware is detected as DEV_1502. The 82579LM driver is selected and installed, however the device fails to start. After the next reboot in the TS the setupapi.dev.log shows that it has detected DEV_1503 and the 82579V driver is installed and the device starts. Things I’ve tested so far: A driver package with only the NIC driver in case another driver was causing the issue. Installing no drivers at all – the device is still detected as the 82579LM. Creating a new driver package. Several different versions of the driver including the latest from Intel rather than HP. A different install.wim (the original just has IE9 slipstreamed, but I get the same result from the install.wim from the Win7 ISO). Running the TS using standalone media. A couple of interesting things: It’s not a hardware problem as it build correctly in our SCCM 2007 environment – using the same drivers. The same TS works correctly on a ProBook 6570b and this has the same 82579V NIC. If I install manually using the Windows 7 DVD the device is detected correctly as the 82579V. Any help VERY much appreciated! first_boot_dev_1502.txt second_boot_dev_1503.txt
  12. Hi all, I've a strange problem with my osd task sequence. I created a new Windows 7 x64 SP1 image via build and capture ts and imported it via "Add Oprating System Image". In the properties I can see that it consists of two image 1-1 and 2-2. I configured my osd udi task sequence at "Apply operating system image" that it uses the 2-2 image. Nevertheless the task sequence stops at the apply operating system image step with following errors: The task sequence execution engine failed executing the action (Apply Operating System Image) in the group (Install) with the error code 2147943568 Action output: ... installimage.cpp,1721) installer.install(), HRESULT=80070490 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\osdeployment\applyos\installimage.cpp,1787) Closing image file D:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\CH1000F4\Win7_ENT_SP1_64bit_2013_December.wim Entering ReleaseSource() for D:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\CH1000F4 reference count 1 for the source D:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\CH1000F4 before releasing Released the resolved source D:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\CH1000F4 InstallImage( g_InstallPackageID, g_ImageIndex,targetVolume, ImageType_OS, g_ConfigPackageID, g_ConfigFileName, bOEMMedia, g_RunFromNet ), HRESULT=80070490 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\osdeployment\applyos\applyos.cpp,509) Unable to find a Windows system root at D:\. lement not found. 13. Need help with how to set " Schedule a full update on this collection" for Device collections. I have a PowerShell script that creates over 90 Device collections for our environment in the Test lab right now. I can set all the setting I need even "Incremental updates" but I cannot figure out how to set a full schedule in the PowerShell Script. looking for any help. Thank You.
  14. I've been waiting for the windows/sccm r2 refresh to look at moving from LANdesk (yeah.... I know) to SCCM 2012. I have set up this same environment about 3 times now in lab environments with 2008r2/2012 and sccm 2012. This build (hoping to make it a production build eventually) is Server 2012 R2 w/SCCM 2012 R2, and I am seeing my WDS service crash immediatly, to the point it will not even start. I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this. See attached screenshots for details.
  15. Hi There, Our primary site server is constantly sitting on 'install pending' when trying to update distribution points with new package versions. This has been left full days with no effect. The distmgr.log file seems to indicate it has picked up the command to update to a new version number of a package but then sits with the messages below Used 3 out of 3 allowed processing threads. We have had issues with the primary site server of this nature before for 1-2 days during busy roll outs but these issues have been ongoing for 2+-weeks and the system performance is being impacted. I am needing to restart the service nearly every time a package is updated. Any advice would be welcome Many Thanks
  16. Alright, I've been having an insane amount of trouble with SCCM for the last few weeks. I am hoping someone can help me. I have combed these message boards and tried so many fixes, but no go. Setup: SCCM 2012 SP1 Server - 10.1.8.12 DHCP Server - On 172.x.x.x network DHCP Options: 66: 10.1.8.12 67: Tried both smsboot\x86\wdsnbp.com and boot\x86\wdsnbp.com (not sure which to use. Many conflicting posts about them. Also, case sensitive?) When I used to F12, I would get Boot File Not Found. That was before I added the DHCP Options. NOW, however, I get: DHCP.. TFTP. PXE-M0F - Exiting Intel Boot Agent Quite instant after it receives the IP. Now, I have ensured the Files are within both the SMSBoot and Boot folders. Plenty of them. 7 in the SMSBoot and 10 in the boot. I have tried uninstalling WDS. I haven't manually configured anything WDS. I let SCCM do everything. When I try PXE-booting with the laptop, NOTHING is added to the SMSPXE log. NOTHING is added to the DISTMGR log. Everything is added to the C: to avoid any storage-related problems. After restarting WDS service, there is no red in either logs. Please, somebody, save me from the demon. My brain is mush.
  17. Hi All. We have SCCM 2012R2 installed on one of our server and have been using it for around 8 months for managing and deploying client machines. We deployed the clients through a GPO by changing the WSUS server although we have not yet deployed it to any servers. We don't exactly plan on using many of the features of SCCM on the servers but we want to remove our old WSUS server which currently only supplies updates for Server machines. What are the best practices on this and is it possible to use the WSUS server without the client installed (The Classic way just for servers)? One thing I'm most worried about is the servers automatically restarting because of an update, is it possible to disable this? Thanks
  18. Hello All, i am facing Problem, after a while. i setup up windows Update Automatic Rule, and it was working Perfect or i never notice issue. i setup update rules in every Friday at 8pm to 9pm my update will run and install and reboot, if require. and i setup maintenance time window for friday 8pm to 9 Pm. but in last friday (13/09/2013) i checked. out of 100 servers only 4 went trough. and rest of 96 got In Progress and (Waiting for maintenance windows before installing ) i checked servers event viewer but nothing in there. can you guys help me out to achieve this goal please. thank you
  19. Hello, I have attached the smsts log file. I continue to get an error while trying to image a machine. It says "the task sequence could not start because there is no distribution point update for it". I'm pretty new to this entire process, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. smsts.log

    BitLocker GPO

Hi, this is my 1st post, and I'm a complete noob to SCCM and Bitlocker. I'm currently using Server 2008 R2, with SCCM 2012 SP1. I've followed various guides online for deploying BitLocker, and have managed to do so successfully....but, In many guides, when created the GPO on the DC for BitLocker, I don't have the option for selecting 'used space only' or 'full disk encryption' Is this option only available with Win8 or Server 2012? I have also read up on using MBAM with SCCM, but I cannot find where you download this from. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks, mdc111
  21. hi guys i'm doing a lab from the book System Center 2012 Configuration Manager: Mastering the Fundamentals by Kent Agerlund, and in it, there is a refresh to win 7 from xp lab using mdt integraated with config manger. I'm following the instructions exactly, but everytime i run the task sequence to install the os, im getting an error even before getting to boot to winpe. Everything seems to be running fine, but then the task sequence errors out with this message Task Sequence: Windows 7 ent x64 has failed with the error code (0x0000264C). For more information, contact your system administrator or helpdesk operator. Then in Software Center I see this error Error: 0x4005(16389) I examined the smsts log and only see this error Error getting system isolation info. Code 8027000C Remediation failed. Code 8027000C Remediation failed with error code 8027000c researching the error codes i dont find a lot of information, suggesting maybe it could be a driver issue. i didn't add any drivers to my boot image but I was able to get into winpe before and it was the same task sequence using the same boot image so i'm unsure if thats the reason for the error im using vmware workstation 9 and sccm 2012 sp 1. thanks to anybody that can help EDIT* Ok i resolved the above issue (memory wasn't set correctly) but now im booting in win pe and getting "unable to read task sequence configuration disk" and navigating to smsts log i see error failed to find the configuration path error 80070003 One person resolved it by updating the bios but im not sure if that is the issue
  22. Hi All Im after a software report in SCCM 2012 that will give me everything that the 'Software 02E - Installed Software on a specific computer' gives me but i want to exclude certain Product Family/Categorys? Anyone know if this is possible? other than exporting to Excel and manipulating Many Thanks in Advance Regards Mark
  23. I am having nothing but trouble with my SCCM 2012. I am running Server 2012 Standard, SQL server 2012 and SCCM with Endpoint Protection SP1. The install looks like it goes well but when i start to try and use client push i start to get all types errors. Under site status i have a critical staus for the Management point. And under component status my SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER and SMS_NOTIFICATION_SERVER components have a critical stauts as well. I already have tried reinstalling a total of three time. If any one had any help or insight into my issues please help!!! I have attatched my log files.
  24. Hi All, I have been trying to work this out for a week now. We have just setup SCCM 2012, and are starting to deploy new DPs Now the DPs that we are to use, also have other roles assigned to them. Mainly they are Lotus Notes Domino Servers I have successfully installed the DP roles to these servers, and the packages have transferred across all ok, but during our first deployment it seems we are getting these error messages in the contenttransfermanager logs. Successfully sent location services HTTP failure message. Error sending HEAD request. HTTP code 404, status 'Not Found' Persisted locations for CTM job {E80FD15A-F656-4E0E-9313-E5DF447F9443}: (LOCAL) http://xxxx.xxxx.com/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/Content_b61b4a9f-27f2-49a3-8a28-2a254fd681ea.1 [CCMHTTP] ERROR: URL=http://xxxx.xxxx.com/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/Content_b61b4a9f-27f2-49a3-8a28-2a254fd681ea.1, Port=80, Options=224, Code=0, Text=CCM_E_BAD_HTTP_STATUS_CODE I have tried the following I tried browsing to that link, and I get a 404 error. Looking locally using windows explorer I can see the files are indeed there. Could the issue be, that since Domino itself uses Port 80 for webmail, hence SCCM cant use that port, and therefore the client cannot download anything? Also, how would I get around this issue? Is it possible to change the ports that sccm uses for communication?
  25. Hi, Need help / advice from scratch, how to deploy SCCM 2012 in a multiple domain environment so that we can run push/advertise across multiple domain, run reports, run quires. What things to keep in mind as a pre-requisite and post-requisite.
